Almost never worked - Weather Radios

Got this for my dad as he likes having a small radio to get around the house. We put the batteries in (they were brand new) and the light came on but there was no sound. After turning the disc on and off 10 times you can hear sound but the second you turn it off and on again there is no sound. Very disappointed. Luckily we were able to get a full refund.

Good price good performance

I've had the radio for a few months now and it works very well. I needed something to listen to while working on my computer at home. I mainly listen to AM Sports Radio. AM stations may have poor reception, but this portable RadioShack works very well. I can't say it's perfect because I have to make sure it's in the right position to pick up the station I'm listening to clearly. All of the equipment in my home office generates a lot of electrical noise. However, I can't complain too much. It…

Good sound, easy operation, solid construction

Bought for elderly relatives who want a basic radio with analogue dial and volume control. Ergonomics are good, although shoving the power cord into the back panel can be a hassle. That being said, it's the perfect old-school AM/FM radio for use in the garden, workshop, and home. 50 dollars. My guess is that Radio Shack may no longer make them, so the price will go up as supplies run thin. It's a great radio without a doubt, but $50 is a bit pricey for what you get.

Worked great. (Within TWO days!)

My wife wanted a radio for her desk at work that was simple in design and supported stereo headphones. This RadioShack radio seemed to be right. Received at home, tested, works great. She hired him the next day and again did a great job. So we threw the box away. On the third day it turned on, but the volume, even at maximum volume, was so low that it was barely audible in either the radio speaker or headphones. But it's not a kicker! Not only was the volume toast, he couldn't tune into ANY…

Great performer - handsome and well built for only $20!

Solid old style radio, nicely finished and feels solid. Morning is quite strong, afternoon San Antonio KTSA (AM 550) is fished. (NOTE: KTSA is my "reference" station for AM sensitivity testing, so San Antonio is about 200 miles from my home). FM reception catches all stations in and around Houston. The NOAA weather radio works satisfactorily (many more expensive radios claim to have this feature but don't provide weather alert stations - it does!) Added value: built-in power supply! Pretty good

Serves my purpose well for portable audio and video

There is only one FM station that reaches my location on the southern tip of the island of Hawaii. Radio speaker sound is clear, if a little thin, and suffers compared to a cheap and vintage boombox. Strangely, the sound through the headphones is inferior to the sound from the speaker. Dull and less pronounced. The weather station is clear enough for that. AM reception is good, the sound depends on the station. I do not care. I bought the radio to replace the white noise CCJ units which soon…
