Best Value on Parts

I have used this starter motor on a Mercruiser 454 inboard. It works very well and the price is way better than anything you can buy at an auto parts store or Original Merc Parts.

Pros
  • Starters and Alternators
Cons
  • Exchange Availability

Scrap, does not turn the engine

Scrap. Stand tested, installed and it just clicked. I double checked my wiring, the charger was on batteries. Nothing. I even pulled the plug to give him a chance to fight, he wasn't cranking the engine. Went to the wharf and paid 3x for the starter, put it on and it started right away. The stand checked this position after detaching and rotated freely again. Don't waste your time or get angry.

Pros
  • Starter and spare parts
Cons
  • Without engine

Fits perfectly, great price, starts the engine!

Bought for my brothers on a Volvo Penta boat with a 5.7 liter V8 Chevy engine in it. After the old starter failed, we thought we could just get a starter for a late 90's Chevy truck, and that's NOT right. After paying A LOT for a "close but not accurate" starter at the local dealership and realizing it wouldn't work and the electrical parts couldn't be returned, Revain Prime came to the rescue. No mainboard, low price, fast delivery. Absolutely correct way.

Pros
  • Spare parts
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

This is NOT an easy task. Be ready!

The only reason I'm giving it three stars instead of five is because I installed it on my 1996 Caprii SS Bayliner with a 350 Mercruiser and cranked it up a bit and at least flipped it. The reason I don't have it and don't drive it is because I still need to fix the exhaust riser and header. The boat has been sitting for 5 years. I had a new engine installed 2 years ago so I know it starts and runs. I will update this review again after the boating season is over. So if it ends well this year…

Pros
  • Starter
Cons
  • Some bugs

This company is misleading in their listing and does not follow the Uniform Commercial Code when there is a warranty claim. This device (MARINE starter) is supplied unpainted and unprotected. Each mechanic paints the outside of the starter to protect it from corrosion. The old starter was removed and installed by the ship's lead mechanic. The boat was isolated so it wouldn't start. Some time ago the boat was set up for the summer and an attempt to start this engine failed with a horrible noise.

Pros
  • Automotive
Cons
  • Protection
