Simple and easy to use

Purchased to measure boat noise and performed as expected. It is very easy to use and has a clear display. Will buy a proper calibration tool to build long-term confidence in the device.

Pros
  • Includes windball, battery and carrying case
Cons
  • No instructions

otherwise everything is fine,

It is not possible to configure the meter. need to make sure it is measuring accurately or what the point of measurement is, i checked it against a known source but it was just to see if it was working etc need to calibrate it regularly. But apart from that everything is all right

Pros
  • measurement in two ranges (high and low) and frequency range: from 31.5 Hz to 8 kHz
Cons
  • protection

That's a good gauge. I've had it badly thought out for several months

This is a good meter. I've had it for a few months. I've had several CEM Mini Digital Sound Level Meters before that. One of these Mini died because my pup thought it was for her. And the other one was flattened by a car when the gauge fell off my truck. The CEM gauge other than being bullied is a fantastic gauge. And when I saw her tested side by side the results of both were almost the same.I was disappointed that just one drop of the Reed R8050 sound level meter rendered it unusable.Shipping

Pros
  • 1/2" electret condenser microphone for high fidelity and long term stability

Good counter. I've had this for several months. Before that I had several digital mini sound level meters from CEM. One of the minis died because my pup thought it was for her. And another one who got hit by a car when the meter fell off my truck. The CEM meter, abuse aside, is a fantastic gauge. And when I tested them side by side, the results were pretty much the same on both. I was disappointed that just one drop of the Reed R8050 sound level meter rendered it useless. Delivery and repair…

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Set up your stereo/media room carefully

We have a complex system. To optimize our system, we had to calibrate the front, center, rear, and height speakers. We used Spears & Munsil's HD benchmark and 2nd Edition Calibration CD to fine-tune all levels for optimal listening. Low frequency, not found in $20-$50 models. We really needed to crank the NHT subwoofer up to full blast, and that helped pinpoint exactly what was going on. Turns out we had to tilt our speaker up a few degrees. Who knew it could be a trick? It comes with a carry…

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Very expensive
