May not fit on a trailer

I have not used them on a trailer and to be honest I wouldn't use them on my trailer due to their low payload. However, they are great for running things in garages. I've used them with paracord and they work great for lighter loads.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Fairly ok

Use mine for a strange purpose.

Hired my girl in the attic of my house to open and close the huge triangular vent at one end of the house. In a very cold winter, I wanted to be able to close the vent and let some warm air and cold air inside. It does the trick for that 10 foot wide and 4 foot tall vent.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Poor maintainability

Exceeds expectations for durability

This crank mechanism is simple and straightforward. It holds two kayaks over my carport with a cable and is always taut. It does not rust and does not require lubrication to maintain normal operation. I'm very happy with it, although I have no way of comparing it to other devices, it just does the job. Highly recommended.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Good but not great

Great item for the price

Bought for my bow string table and bow tuning station. Works perfectly! Attention potential buyers. This is a winch with a ratchet in one direction, it doesn't rotate in the opposite direction, and changing the handle and components to the other side, while possible, is difficult and requires additional holes to be drilled. Great product for the price!

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Good Winches: Tow and winch items

These are great heavy duty winches. They do their job well. The only thing I think is wrong. And the only reason they don't get 5 stars is because it takes them forever to coil a cable or rope of any appreciable length. My application is to crank my bike up to the ceiling of my garage and it takes almost 200 handles to get the bike up to the ceiling which is only about 12 feet. It is too long.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Interchangeable

Exactly what I was looking for.

Need a winch to raise/lower the backyard ham radio mast. I didn't do the math but assumed it was the right size to hold at least 50 feet of my 3/16 inch vinyl coated steel cable and it worked. Mounted it on a 4x4" rack and voila! Does exactly what I need. Good quality, reliable brakes and ratchet. Will definitely be buying more if needed!

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Small parts

It might be better to use 1/4 " or thinner wire

Because the center shaft is too small to wrap the wire I'm using, it bends causing the cable to bend untangled. My wire is 3/8" but it might be better on thinner wire. Everything works fine, the thick wire only bends at the beginning of the length for the first two turns. Seems to be a bad design oversight, but it spins and stays on. Seems hard

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Long delivery

that works great. It does not rust under the influence of the elements.

It appears to be solidly built, although I'm not sure how well it will hold up at or near its maximum weight after repeated use. If you plan to use it to raise or lower objects over 400 pounds, I would use a highly rated winch just to be on the safe side. For my use (raising and lowering a hop vine trellis weighing no more than 100 pounds) this works great. Under the influence of the elements, it does not rust at all. You really can't beat that for the price. Edit: After 2 years of non-stop…
