Works great. It takes about 3-4 years before the sponge starts to degrade. A bit clunky, takes up a lot of space in the tank, but works great.

For a HOB inlet filter this is too thin a filling not to clog in a very short time. It would be much better to use a bubble/internal filter.

I saved a lot of money buying these from Revain. This is the best filtration system even for large tanks. I have a 75 gallon and the only filtration I use is two large hydro sponges. The water is always crystal clear! Try them!

These foam filters are really good, but the sponges themselves need to be changed about once a year. If you start to notice a cloudiness in the water that doesn't clear up quickly, try throwing out the old sponge and replacing it with one of these.

Ideal for developing filter bacteria to feed juvenile fish. Withstands fairly high water pressure generated by pumps such as shaft agitators or underground filters, eventually clogs or the plastic collapses and loses the foam structure so they start to crack and disintegrate, but it takes a few years.

I use these for powerful attachments for large and deep aquariums. This holds up well against infrequent cleanings and a fair amount of dirt. Some foams break down so badly that they collapse and clog under the suction, no matter how well they are cleaned they hold up very well. They form a bacterial bed, which is also useful for feeding guppy young.
