Good for general UV output testing.

So I checked if they work for UVA or UVB by exclusion. UVA penetrates glass and plastic, while UVB does not. I tested them in bright sunlight, outside, and through a window. Dark purple outside, no reaction through the window. So they work for UVB but not for UVA. Then I checked my lamp. I have a reptisun 10.0 t5HO fluorescent bulb in a Sunblaster fixture with reflectors suspended in a mesh cover in a glass terrarium. No reaction from the outside of the aquarium, the inside is light purpleโ€ฆ

Pros
  • A new high-tech, non-toxic, environmentally friendly detection material printed on card for measuring UV-B and UV-A lamps.
Cons
  • Everything is fine

Very simple and works great

Fast and easy to use. I was able to test every lamp I have very quickly without buying a high end UV meter. Teenage seconds on the thermal pad, that's all. I've been able to test all my lightbulbs with alarming results. I've had several lightbulbs that were within the manufacturer's time limits that didn't read at all. I believe this is a must have for any UV sensitive reptile. The only negative I found was that there was no color bar, which makes sense as these cards degrade/fade over timeโ€ฆ

Pros
  • UVB Tester Reptile Card measures the intensity of UVB and UVA rays from a UV fluorescent lamp.
Cons
  • So far so good

Works very well for what it is.

I borrowed a UV meter from a friend when they first arrived to test them. I had three bulbs, two used and one new, I compared them. The oldest bulb made no difference on the map, another used bulb changed the sun's opacity slightly, and the new bulb made the most noticeable difference. A test of the UV-B meter confirmed these results: the first lamp did not transmit UV-B at all, the second emitted less UV-B and the performance of the new lamp was high. I would still recommend anyone who uses UV

Pros
  • The color of the card changes from white to purple depending on the strength of UVB and UVA rays.
Cons
  • Skimpy manual

Extremely effective for relative measurements when used wisely

I wasn't expecting much from these cards, but they turned out to be very useful. As other customers have noted, there is no "table" of colors, but the purple color to the right of the color-changing sun is a good indication of what the maximum exposure from a bright sun looks like. When I tested a 100W Powersun HID lamp at 12 inches, which is considered maximum sun exposure, the card turned almost completely purple within 10 seconds of exposure. This car was basically telling me that I couldn't

Pros
  • Can be used over and over again up to 500 times. Excellent promotional material.
Cons
  • I don't remember, but there was something
