SATA HDD Plug Socket Adapter for Sony PS2 Playstation 2 - RGEEK Review

Connected to my PS2 and was able to use a SATA HDD to back up my games. I had no problems installing or formatting via PS2. It's a shame that the network connection doesn't work, but I was aware of that when I bought the adapter.

That does what it should. Connect a SATA drive to your PS2 and play all the games you want. I connected a 1TB WD drive and was having performance issues. The only problem I had was moving the playstation when the hard drive went offline in the playstation. It would be a really big problem if I was out and about more with my device, I would suggest unmounting it every time for security reasons.

All OEM adapter SATA upgrade kits came from China so I got this as a quick fix. It works great on its own, but I found it to be fairly easy to modify in an OEM adapter! All you have to do is move the AMS1117 regulator and 4 capacitors from the big board to the smaller SATA board and you have the exact same board they sell in upgrade kits! I don't know why they removed the regulator from the board as it was clearly intended for that. In any case, a great purchase.

This product is a GameStar branded adapter which is known to cause hardware and incompatibility issues in PS2 home stage. Based on the positive feedback here, I ordered one of these to test, but found it to be buggy and not loading properly in any applications that use the Free HD Boot v1.93 image. I bought the RGEEK version (the rest of the product is Gamestar). It works, but this version is definitely missing an ethernet port and there's no embedded bolt. There's nothing under the sticker that warns about plugging in a phone line, just more plastic and two holes labeled "LINK" and "ACT." Only one of the two mounting bolts is threaded. I bought this to replace my original hard drive adapter as larger IDE drives are becoming increasingly difficult to come by. First, the adapter works great. I currently have a 1TB SATA hard drive installed which has enough space for all the games I wanted to install and WinHiip had no problems with the large hard drive.
