Riptunes Retro Bluetooth Boombox: Cassette Player, Recorder, AM/FM/SW Radio, USB, SD, Yellow Review

I spent an extra $10 not to get a yellow they sent me a yellow. In general, the sound quality was not impressive, there is not enough bass. It looks good and is a cool little novelty. Lots of features, can't complain. If you like it, get it, but don't expect it to sound amazing. Plus, it's only about 12 inches.

These ghetto blasters remind me a lot of how they were actually built in the 80's, so I have a feeling it's not cheaply made. The speaker is not outstanding quality, a little disappointing in sound quality. I would also urge you not to run the tape recorder for a minute or two before inserting the cassette. I didn't and it ate the first cartridge I put in, but it's been working fine ever since. If this boombox was $10-20 cheaper I would probably buy a second one and give it away.

The only good thing about this product is that it looks good. But appearances can be deceiving. As soon as I plugged it in, a hum came out of the speakers. The radio caught adequately, but the sound was terrible and one speaker just hummed. The cassette played, but the sound was terrible again. The item was returned within an hour of receipt. There are far better choices for a cassette/radio combo. Don't let nostalgia for the '80s fool you, it's all about looks.

Don't buy this if you think it's some Sonos pocket oracle barking. This is for people who understand how a small, inexpensive radio with a cassette deck usually sounds - not surprising, but this is for sitting at the kitchen table or taking to a picnic or anywhere else. The great option is that it's bluetooth enabled, its low price, perfect size/shape and you can record to cassette from any other playback option.
