super loud! - Mounts

Some reviews say they are not as loud as they were hoping. I beg to differ. I have them under the dash for both CB and ham radio and I don't even have to turn the radio halfway to hear them loud and clear. These things are loud. Now they are not noisy when connected to a cellphone. I think it depends on the performance of the device. But for my radios they rattle loudly. Just to see, I rolled down the window and turned on the weather panel. I could hear it across the street. Very compact and…

Fairly loud sound from a small speaker

Has a fairly decent and pleasing sound for a radio. Use one for my ICOM IC-2730 and am very happy with it. It sounds surprisingly good and sits pretty well on my 07 4Runner console. A width less than 3/8 inch would fit me perfectly in THIS corner, but close enough that it doesn't matter to others. It appears to be well tuned for speech reproduction and doesn't sound tinny like another unit I've bought that starts with a V that looks pretty much the same but oddly sounds completely different…

  • High marks from testers for support and durability
Cons
  • Minor issues

Great little speaker for SDR

I use it with Afedri LAN-IQ SDR and Malahit SDR and while it's not loud it's loud enough - I don't need a speaker amp like before. Sound is clear, with plenty of bandwidth for speech and music - it's not exactly hi-fi, but it's good enough. It's an attractive little speaker, well built and solid, and would be easy to set up, but I only use the mount as a stand. There's a lot of cable, or even too much, but there's no volume control. Maybe a bit pricey but I think it's worth it. I would…

Decent sound quality even for a 4 ohm driver

Used for Yaesu FTM-400xdr which claims to have a 12 watt 4 ohm speaker but I connected this 8 ohm speaker anyway and You know the sound quality is pretty decent for the price! You can use a slightly higher volume if the truck is noisy and you have hearing issues like me, but here's another benefit to compensate for the fact that these speakers are slightly less powerful than the official Yaesu speaker for FTM: this device is much smaller and less likely to bother your arms, legs and hands if…

The sound quality is better than I expected.

My speaker arrived with a damaged perforated metal grille. It most likely happened during shipping. After testing the speaker's sound and performance, I decided to keep it to myself. The speaker is hidden in my JLUR Jeep between the sun visor and the Sunrider top. We're moving forward. . . The speaker is paired with a Uniden Pro 520xl CB radio. With the speaker connected, I only have to adjust the volume to 25%, compared to 100% before. Now the incoming sound is sharper and clearer. This little

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Something else

I bought this for one of our fire truck as an external speaker for our radio because its internal speaker wasn't loud enough. I had to cut the 1/8" connector and plug it into a Motorola 16 pin connector, but it was pretty easy and took about 10 minutes. I plugged it into the back of the radio, turned it on and it worked great. I was able to crank the radio's volume up to a point where it was uncomfortably loud, but the audio was still clear. When used in an application that requires a 4 ohm…

Useless sound when used with a ham radio

i really wanted to like them because they were a small form factor and i had to turn up the volume on my yaesu 8800 in my jeep because it's loud on the freeway and slower with the window open. I installed them on the roll bar between the seats, which was the perfect spot. Unfortunately, the sound was interrupted at a certain volume and pitch. I'm not a sound expert so can't really describe it but it was really annoying to listen to and I removed them and they are in a box in my garage. One day…

Great little speaker!

I need an external speaker as I have installed my radio in another car but I was a little apprehensive about choosing. The size and sound quality were big issues, but after reading the reviews for this little speaker I decided to pull the trigger. I mounted a Kenwood TM-V71A under the passenger seat in my Discovery II where the CD changer used to be and I had to keep the volume down to hear the internal speaker. With big off-road tires, you can forget about that when rolling on the road. So…

Inexpensive speaker with clean comfortable sound

I'm a TV presenter and surrounded by expensive professional audio gear and I have to say this speaker sounds surprisingly good for the money. I bought two of these based on the reviews I found here and was not disappointed. I use one in my car with a Yaesu FT2900 ham radio and the other at home with a Yaesu FT8900. I've also used them with two different handheld scanners. In all of these cases, the speaker's 3.5mm mono mini-jack matched the radio perfectly. I haven't encountered a single…
