You better know what you're doing

No documentation. No support. If you receive this board it must be because you are already using it. If you are new to this architecture, buy a real one. This isn't the kind of experience you want when trying to gain confidence in the hardware. It keeps hanging in bootloader mode and won't accept downloads. I was able to do a few basic sketches, but with what you "saved" to get that cheap beer, you're wasting your time. This user also sells it for about double the price, by the way. Don't…

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Speed

Won't boot from Arduino IDE

RobotDyn SAMD21MINI board won't boot from Arduino IDE. There is no combination of "Board Type" and "Port" that loads a sketch from a USB port. If there's another way to upload a sketch, it's not documented anywhere I can find it. Don't waste time testing.

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Minor issues

Great little development board

Great board to get started with the SAMD21 chip. All the pins are also broken, which is what drew me to the Adafruit Trinket M0. It's almost the same as the Arduino M0 but in a smaller form factor and I used this Arduino core to program it.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

EDIT: Pretty cool. in single board computers

So after trying to get this thing to work for over a week now and trying each of the example Arduino M0 sketches provided in the IDE I never got it, nothing more than an error message "Failed to upload to board." I tried contacting support which in itself was a HUGE feat to even FINDING the support email and they replied ONCE asking what OS I have . I replied within minutes and that was DAYS ago and still no reply. I really hate writing reviews like this because I usually buy from reputable…

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Security

Only partial support for Arduino

A serial port monitor is absolutely necessary for debugging code. This product does not support serial monitor. You need an additional serial cable. Also, the bootloader incorrectly initializes the SPI port. All signals that should go to digital I/O are instead routed to the ICSP configuration port, which doesn't work for custom applications.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Useless features

Not compatible with Arduino Zero

The board works but is not compatible with Arduino Zero, it needs different board files because the pinout is different (the Arduino digital pins match the actual MCU pins) .

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • old
