ROKR Assembly Mechanical Engineering Educational: Building Knowledge Through Hands-on Creation Review

This is the second item we have ordered and again we are blown away by the intricacy and artistry. It requires patience to assemble but is just as beneficial as the finished product. it feels like you are making something yourself (but there are instructions :) )

This puzzle is really well made. I am very impressed with the quality of the packaging and the material. The instructions are really detailed and complete and all parts are clearly labeled for easy navigation. Even though I didn't get the lock part right (my mistake lol) I still had a lot of fun making this one. This is a great way to stimulate yourself and do something practical when you have free time.

This item is amazing. or so I thought it would be. My adult son and I are putting this together and we made it to the main part of the rotary switch. It barely withstood any pressure, and the second time around the combo worked, the front (outside) separating immediately. The tension point can not be repaired, so everything is excessive, and I will not buy a whole new box just for 1 piece. It's not that we're being rude about it. We haven't even finished building it yet. So buyers beware.

Parts of the product were easy to pull out and start assembling. However, when it came time to unlock the box, it didn't spin. The product has been sanded and waxed where necessary and sufficiently. However, since the wood is very thin, the dial on the front broke when trying to unlock it. Keep in mind that this was also the case when the inside was still available, so I tried to help him from the inside. If it was fully assembled it wouldn't rotate at all. It's unfortunate. It was a neat box in assembly. It took some fine tuning to get it working properly. The nice thing about this set is that it comes with some extra pieces. This is handy because some parts are quite fragile. There are some tools and supplies not listed in the instructions but I found them very helpful with assembly, a good pair of wire cutters to cut out small wooden dowels, a pair of pliers to set the small dowels, a small hammer to drive the dowels into our faucet . This set has very few defects. It's very interesting and requires more thought than some of the other kits as it allows you to set up your own code. Most of the parts are fairly easy to put together and the final product is nice and well articulated. I've had mine for a few months now, and although I haven't moved any of the parts in months, they still move smoothly. However, something is wrong with the set. Something good first. The instructions were simple and easy to follow. The pieces are classified by letters and numbers, so you don't have to go from board to board looking for a specific number. It's fun because you can choose your own combination of locks and then create them. You have more than enough wooden sticks and wax to complete the project. In the end, it wasn't a bad wood project.
