Slicing knife needs to be bigger

I love sliced salads, especially at Subway so was very happy to find this. And a little surprised that Revane didn't have more choices. The bowl for this set is great - thick, sturdy, but a bit too big, especially if you're only making 1 salad. My biggest problem is the "chopper". In my opinion, given the size of the bowl, this is too small, and the blade should be deeper. My hands get dirty when I cut a salad because the blade is so thin and your hands are in the bowl. If I ever find another…

It works very well - love it!

The simplicity of this device is a true marvel and it works really well. Loved the picture on the box and I put all the veggies in the bowl at once and with a simple push down and wiggle the blade cut everything terribly and really saved time chopping/chopping everything one at a time. not sharp at all, but thick, and the handle has a wide, comfortable grip. The matt, grained inner surface is good because it effectively conceals the inevitable blade marks. The bowl is made from nice thick…

  • Sad device

This is a very functional product that solves one of my favorite problems. Within a few years, it became a fad to constantly increase the size of the pieces in a salad, and the more sophisticated the restaurant, the larger the pieces, or so it seems. Well, I prefer small pieces in my salads. This product gives me that. The slicing blade is comfortable in the hand and adapts to the curve of the bowl. The bowl itself is large enough to make a salad for the whole family, very sturdy and slightly…

Good results not great

After I sharpened the blade it worked much better (I used an IKEA knife sharpener)! I agree with some of the other reviews that the blade only hurts, not cuts, some vegetables. Honestly, I'd rather just lay out the cutting board and poke a knife into the foods I want to add to the salad. However, if you just like to throw everything in a bowl and roughly chop things up, then this is fine for you. My 12 year old son liked using it because he said it's different and he has to wash less dishes…

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • Expensive

The bowl is big, strong and thick, frosted inside to keep the food in place when you try to cut it with a rounded hand blade. Greens separately are tiring, I prefer to cut them on the board and carry them to the bowl. It's best to add lots of ingredients and then roughly chop them up for a simple salad. The blade is not very sharp, it is designed for rough cuts. I also find it helpful to roughly chop some boiled potatoes for frying at home, as well as roughly chop boiled eggs for egg salad. It…

Works almost as advertised, but.

This Salad-O-Matic is an interesting concept that works almost as advertised. It's basically one of those large white bowl-shaped cutting boards for use with the included curved knife, similar to the type used by the Inuit (Eskimos) - the Ulu knife. You basically put all your veggies and salads in a bowl and cut them with a curved knife, moving it back and forth along the curved bottom of the bowl. You conceptually end up with all of your food in the same bite-sized chunks you find at…
