Does not fit Rubicon

This skid plate does not fit Rubicon. It rubs on the front driveshaft. Unfortunately, as part of the assembly, you will need to drill a mounting hole on the passenger side so that the item can be returned. I will no longer trust any Omix-Ada (Rugged Ridge) product. The necessary equipment was also missing. I also learned not to trust the Revain install guide.

Sturdy but has issues

Skid definitely solid I've used it a few times and it's still holding up without dents. Two stars because you have to drill a hole if you reuse the stock body slide. Not a big deal, but still a pain. It also hangs very low. There must be at least 6 inches of clearance between the oil pan and the skids. The last problem is that access to the oil pan drain plug is too small and non-existent. The last liters of oil drip all over the sled and make a huge mess. This is on a 2012 with a 3.6 and yes I

Pros
  • Case and finish
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Wrangler Skid Plate Pros and Cons

I called Rugged Ridge and they told me this skid plate would fit a 2012 Wrangler, although it would be best with some metal removal and modifications. I think Rugged Ridge just wanted to make a few quick changes to their existing 2007-2011 Wrangler product without spending a lot of money, drilled a few new holes and said they fit. As a retired engineer with a PhD, the designer left out a few things that would make this skid plate problematic for 2012 Wrangler setups. More than 70,000 2010…
