Cheap. misleading description

I had to buy a new outlet because the one that came with it was so cheap. Recesses require a separate tool. Very difficult to install.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Compatibility

Socket terminal worse

Socket rated for 50 amps but the wire mounting screws were too small for 6 AWG wire and we had to replace the socket which cost an additional $15 and labor to replace the sockets.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Operating speed

Terrible socket

This has a nice box but the socket has lag screws that go through the middle of the cord connection. 50 amp cords are very tough. The screws prevent the wires from being pushed through. If you manage to install the wires they will come out when you put the connector in the box.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Wire connection issues

Much of the design is good, but the electrical lugs are terrible to use. The bolts used to tighten the clamps require the stranded wire to be split and passed through either side of this bolt. With a current of 50 A, it is very difficult to connect conductors in this way. Change that part of the design and it will be awesome.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • So-so

IMPOSSIBLY BAD for tools and equipment

The box itself is a de facto design used by countless manufacturers. What makes this one different is that "knockout" isn't like that at all. You CANNOT rip open the connector hole no matter how hard you try without a dremmel and a sanding attachment. The steel gauge is heavy enough to make it very uncomfortable. I spent about an hour cutting and drilling a hole for a 3/4 plug. And even after all was said and done, I basically butchered the damn thing. To make matters worse, the fork is simply…

Pros
  • Workshop and shop
Cons
  • Obsolete model
