Very durable plates

I'm a big fan of compostable plates at a time when disposable plates make sense. They are very durable, and if the food isn't cheeky, they can be reused (by the same person, of course). I also like the oval shape. I think there can be more things on an oval plate than on a round plate. Plus, the oval is lighter when you're carrying a stack of ribs across the backyard from the grill to the table.

  • Plates
Cons
  • Quick Start Guide

Good durable paper plates

We use a lot of paper plates, more than we need and I like them because I can put them on the compost heap. They're also sturdy and definitely more durable than some of the other plates we've used, so we've had far fewer spills and accidents with them. In general, I like them very much. They're a decent size, microwaveable, sturdy and finally I can compost them. That makes her an asset to me.

Pros
  • Disposable plates, bowls and cutlery
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks

Tough paper plates

No spills with normal use. We've cooked meat on them and used them as cutting boards without penetrating the bottom. They may get a bit mushy in the microwave, but that's normal with any paper plate. Everything comes down to cost. They're not that different from the same thicker/heavier paper plates you can buy anywhere, so I'd only end up going with them if the price warranted it. They are still wrapped in plastic for hygiene reasons, just like any other paper plate.

Pros
  • Paper and plastic
Cons
  • Only available in black
