XP users: This is for you!

I've had a Dell Inspiron 640m (2007 notebook - Core 2 Duo processor, Intel 945G chipset, 1GB RAM) idle since 2011 and I decided to breathe into life. Bought a Samsung SSD, it comes with software to copy the OS and data from the old computer. Strangely, no USB cable was included to connect the SSD to your old laptop, even though the instructions show it. Since I had planned a new installation anyway, it didn't bother me. Anyway, replacing my old hard drive with this Samsung SSD took about 5-10…

Awesome data store

The best value for your next dollar spent on speeding up your computer is to buy an SSD and install it as the main drive of your operating system. If you don't have an SSD for your computer, now is the time to buy one. The small 120-128GB models are great as a primary drive for fast startup and operational tasks, especially considering the low cost. Huge speed boost, getting the job done a little faster, less waiting at the machine. No spider iron spindle technology compares. If you can afford…

Great upgrade for an old laptop. - Installation Guide.

I had a very slow ASUS laptop that was about 2.5 years old. It had a 2nd generation Intel Core 2 Duo processor. It took forever to load and website browsing was very slow. I mainly use my laptop to check email, surf the web and download photos from my digital camera. I'm not a power user so I couldn't reasonably spend hundreds of dollars to replace it. Also, I'm not a fan of Windows 8 which comes installed on almost all new laptops, which has put me off buying a new laptop (I currently have…

Samsung 840 Evo 120GB is quick and easy to install. If you pay attention!

My HP Pavilion G7 laptop was bought 2.5 years ago for $299 and has always been slow. I use it more often now and am really tired of waiting 3 minutes for it to load and how annoyingly slow it was in general functions. Now with Samsung I go from cold boot to fully functional in about 15-17 seconds with Chrome connected to the internet! All my programs work better, pages load better. I really couldn't be happier. Almost bought a new laptop, so glad I didn't. Attention! I see many people having…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other models

I bought this drive to replace the original Western Digital 160GB (SATA I) drive in my Inspiron 1525 laptop. Cellphone supports up to SATA II. However, any increase in speed over the slow WD drive would be welcome. Since this laptop will only be used for internet, email, and the occasional Microsoft Office document, I decided to save some money and go for the 120GB version. I only use about 42GB and have plenty of cloud and external storage if needed. I've narrowed it down to this drive and a…
