Works as expected, USB 3.0 transfers files fast

But I'm worried about how hot this thing gets. The last SanDisk product I had (a 64GB USB 3.0 flash drive) broke after excessive heat during transfer. He left the stick in read-only mode after only about a year of use. They need to figure out the best way to dissipate the heat in these sticks. Hope this one doesn't die! In this case, I just have to keep using my 2TB external drive as it continues to work without any problems. Before you say anything, I live in Minnesota and the previous flashโ€ฆ

Surprisingly poor throughput. A 256GB write starts with a decent load of 20-25MB/s (hardly normal for USB2.0, bad for USB3.0). But with steady writes, throughput barely hits 1MB/s. It took _over_8_hours_ to write 220GB. Don't buy, it's not worth it. Updated 12/04/2017. I appreciate Steve's comment from Sandisk, but his comment "Also this flash drive has no published read/write speeds." is wrong. In fact, at the top of the product page, under "X sold, Y done." : * Transfer speeds up to 90MB/s My

Significantly faster than older USB2

I copied a 32GB Adobe Lightroom file back and forth between this drive and an older Cruzer. In all cases, writing to this drive is much faster and reading is much faster on a USB3 system. Now that this drive costs the same (maybe even cheaper) as the old one and is compatible with the same systems, I see no reason to buy the old one. (Seems obvious that the newer one would be faster, but in my case it's significantly faster.) Test systems: new Macbook Pro with USB3, old Mac Pro with USB2; bothโ€ฆ

He collapsed on me.

I bought three a few years ago. I edit a lot of video and I like to save data for a specific project together on a flash drive and then upload it to my computer while I work on projects. I use two hard drives at the same time. The third was in a drawer about a month ago. I found my husband's childhood home videos and digitized them. He began editing them to put them in chronological order. Today I took his SanDisk drive to copy the contents to a backup drive. The hard disk was 74 GB in sizeโ€ฆ

Reliable performance, solid construction.

I use this joystick quite often on my Mac. Since Macbook Air has such limited storage capacity, a good memory card can be essential to ensure certain data/music/videos are available. performance was impeccable. I thought I would love the design and I love the design but for me there is one major flaw that I noticed that sets it apart from my Lexar. Sandisk has a slider that you can use to slide the exposed metal part into the case. I love the idea behind it and that was one of the reasons Iโ€ฆ

Large capacity and slow write speed

I have mixed feelings about this flash drive. I ran RMPrepUSB which checked the drive to show its true capacity. He reported that the drive was not fake and had a capacity of 256GB. If you want to use the Sandisk software, you need to copy it to a safe place. RMPrepUSB is destructive and you will need to reformat the drive after running it. I then ran 2 speed tests on the drive using DeViewUSB and SpeedOut. Both programs reported that the drive has a write speed of 43.5 Mbps. I really enjoyedโ€ฆ
