I've never used diamond whetstones, I bought it for an experiment. They work better than expected. After using them for decoration along with water stones, I found them very useful. So good, in fact, that I intend to buy larger, longer versions for some really serious sharpening, along with the "grip" required to keep them level and in place. Revain's low price is worth it if you've never tried these "blocks" before and are interested in their usefulness.

I bought 2 of these kits knowing that no matter how cheap they are they will become slippery over time and/or the plate will peel off the plastic would. Unfortunately, after just one use, 3 of the 6 metal plates fell off the plastic backing and some others started peeling off. For the price I didn't expect perfection but this is ridiculous.
