Falling apart: Sport

Installed last fall when I had to winter the boat due to bad weather. When I pulled the boat out of the pen, the boot rotted and tore. It's falling apart

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Compatibility

Not very effective in sports

Won't stay in place. It is pushed to the side where the wishbone is bolted to the steering box. I think it might help keep things clean, but not as effective as I was hoping.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Obsolete

Perfect. But you must know.

Excellent. However, you should be aware that a tiny 3/32" or less vent is required about halfway down the side of one of the bellows to get rid of the vacuum to keep it from collapsing on extension. Keeps water, salt and dirt off the cable. Prevents ropes and gears from being lubricated.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Out of fashion

Most boaters in my area don't wear these boots.

Revane said most steering kit buyers bought this cover as well. So I did the same. It takes up space when fully crushed in right turns. But I think I'll still have a great turning radius, even with the restriction that a squashed trunk would create.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Well I was hoping it would work, as friends, and I keep getting our clothes dirty because of the cable ram. Well, to turn all the way to the left, the cable cylinder is almost entirely inside the engine tilt tube. With this cable lug installed, the cable cannot penetrate far enough into the tube to make the boat turn.

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Doubtful

Limits turning in one direction

I don't know, maybe it's just my engine setup, but turning in a direction that pulls the tie rod back into the lean tube can only compress the amount of rubber in that part enough that it ends up preventing the steering Rod does not fully return into tilt tube. Maybe other engines have longer tilt tubes that stick out further and allow this bellows to slide and thus prevent this situation, but my tilt tube only sticks out of the bracket far enough to fit 1 narrow lock nut on it. The product…

  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Say goodbye to the steering wheel lock

So. I contacted Teleflex and asked them what a locked steering system does. They told me the grease was contaminating it and the steering system had to be disassembled annually to give it a thorough clean. . If he doesn't get arrested. then maybe a few days of work. It's fun every year! But Teleflex is wrong. I don't know how many dust storms there are around your boat, but there are none around mine. The problem is the UV degradation of the lubricant. It breaks down into solid resin. This boot

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • There are nuances

Highly efficient and low-maintenance solution

This product is ideal for minimal maintenance and protecting your steering system. My steering cable caught at the point where I had to use my body weight to turn the boat. It turned out that my tilt tube was completely corroded. On my Yamaha 60 there is no way to lubricate the inside of the tilt tube without removing it. I ended up replacing the tilt tube ($100) and was afraid it would corrode too. This product was my solution to prevent this. Very easy installation with only 2 cable ties on…

Pros
  • Outstanding overall performance
