This is the first Blu-ray drive I've bought and it has turned out to be really great. I use it with an iMac running High Sierra and a MacBook Pro running Catalina - no problems with either. I made several backups and only one of them failed (required lower write speed). The disc is easily recognized. from macOS and worked great with Finder and other burning software I've tried. I know this is a budget product but I purposely paid a bit more money for the one with the USB-C port because my laptop doesn't have a 2.0/3.0 port. The cable is for connecting a 3.0 cable to adapter C, but this adapter is useless! As seen in the diagram, the cable is split so the C cable and 3.0 cable work independently, but that's not the case!
