Boosts phosphate levels

Works but does not buffer and increases phosphate levels almost to the point of killing plants and fish. Too bad I bought it, it will be in a box gathering dust

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Pureed

Normally a big Seachem fan but not this one

Used with neutralizer Reach pH 6.5 in buffer tank and after a few months these products still haven't reached 7 let alone under 7 so I'm giving up after using almost a full can of both products.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

I do not recommend this product for dwarf shrimp

I do not recommend this product for dwarf shrimp, especially red cherries. I've been using it for a few weeks for topping up after a water change, I measured the pH of the incoming water before adding it to the tank and tracked the pH of the tanks. This never affected the pH of the aquarium but did result in the death of some shrimp, presumably due to phosphate toxicity. I have very hard water, this stuff just couldn't get the job done without causing unsafe phosphate levels. It's just my 2…

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Expensive

pH stability over years

There are two steps to using this product: initial pH lowering and pH maintenance. The initial pH drop is a big problem, but you only have to do it once. The pH of the water is maintained by chemical buffers that keep the pH stable over time. The initial descent is difficult as you have to "beat off" the alkaline buffers in the water. Because of the buffering effect, you may not have any noticeable changes for a long time, and suddenly the pH value will start to change rapidly. It's like…

Pros
  • All right!
Cons
  • Not the best
