Two damaged in shipping

I bought two of these cases because they were high quality and I've had good luck with Seachem products. Both bags had ripped seams when unpacked. The bags were completely unusable upon arrival. Either I was very unlucky or they have terrible quality control on this product. I won't risk it anyway - I'll be returning these and buying bags from a different brand.

Pros
  • Decent specs
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

The weld is disgusting!

I love Seachem products but the durability of this bag is AWESOME! This bag in particular had been submerged in my swamp for a month, resting freely with no pressure on the bag. On the water change, I started rinsing out the detritus bag and noticed that I continue to feel and see purges in my hands. As you can see in the photo it has come apart right at the seam. I intentionally left a lot of room in my bag to avoid this problem and it happened anyway. Not happy with Seachem, NOT happy!

  • This is amazing

  • Communication with seller

good fine and strong mesh

mesh material is strong. The material is melted along the edges to create seams. Right on the edge. I see the potential for imperfections and opening seams. The ones I have hold up well. I stuck my hand in and pushed down to see if they broke easily as I didn't want to lose the small grains I put in the bag. Anyway, it's held up well for me. A little pricey for what the product actually is so I wouldn't hesitate or feel bad if they opened up under a little pressure and had to return them. At…

Pros
  • price
Cons
  • there are disadvantages

Unlike previous versions, this bag has plastic strips along the side and bottom seams that are almost 2.5cm wide. I'm assuming this is to reinforce the stitching, but this blocks water flow by about 10-15% of the bag. In any case, it should be on the outside of the bag, from where it can be easily removed. If you use the cable tie provided, you will lose about 25% of the bag's capacity when you close it. I turned the bag over to cut off the plastic and instead of using a zip tie I used a food…

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • So-so

Great for purists, but a smaller pack is better.

I like "The Bag" and it's a must for SMALL particles like Purigen. But that's too much for charcoal, biocarriers and co. The mesh size/consistency makes this bag so much more valuable than a normal media bag. Get the regular media pack if you're not trying to include Purigen or other ultra-thin media. The only thing I don't like about the "Bag" is that it is open on one side and has a thick zipper to close it. This makes the bag oddly shaped and takes up a lot of space. Next time I would 100%…

Pros
  • High marks for hold and durability from testers
Cons
  • Has flaws

The bag is really well made - it doesn't fall apart like cheaper bags and bleach doesn't seem to affect this. But - they are expensive. I found a little trick to randomly get 2 bags in one. The pockets are way bigger than I need so I wanted to shorten them a bit. As I was about to cut it open, I realized the bag was actually plastic. I was wondering if I could seal it with one of those Press N Seal machines. So I cut the bag in half - the bottom half is already sealed. This way you only have to

Pros
  • Trial version for one year
Cons
  • Available in white only

Ideal for creating individual Purigen filter bags

Seachem reliable brand. I was dying to use Purigen/Matrix in the 1 gallon mini Betta aquarium I was building for my son, but the filter is so small there was just no real option to buy and use Purigen/Matrix. That was until I read another review that talked about making your own filter bags. So I did. I measured out the space for a custom filter, bought a bag filter, cut it to size and used the heat seal function of my vacuum food sealer to create the perfect Purigen/Matrix mini filter that…

Pros
  • All right!
Cons
  • Expensive

After reading the reviews I decided this should be the product. Small fillers like purigen stay in the bag and the water seems to flow through evenly and perfectly. The only problem is that there was a small hole in the corners of the package where the pieces meet! That would be perfectly fine if your wearer is large (like Matrix), but for fine sand like Purigen this is an absolute no go. I opened the sealed pouch it came in, filled the pouch with Purigen and used the zipper. I started rinsing…
