The towel rail does not have a smooth surface; The wood was very rough. It was the perfect width, but it would stick out too much from the wall. I decided not to install it because the screws holding it to the wall were really quite large and I didn't want to damage my freshly painted walls. This item has been returned.

The quality of the towel rail seems very good. Buyers should keep in mind that the total length of the wall shelf is just over 14 inches, but the space that holds the towel is about 8 1/2 inches wide. Neither box came with any hardware or installation instructions (I bought two of them).

The color is lighter than the picture. just know Apart from this great product. Looks like an easy setup. The big one has terrible packaging. The little one is packed in a nice box, and the big one is just in a plastic wrapper wrapped with paper for protection. I expected better packaging and more protection when shipping such a trendy and expensive product. Not happy with that.

Five stars for design, one star for workmanship. Teak screws and anchors are designed for #10 screws and anchors. The drilled holes and countersinks were too small for a #8 screw for the included device. I've been building boats for ten years and have recognized the problem and have my bit set with the correct countersink, it's not a problem for me. Your average homeowner tries to install it, struggles, and because it's teak it splits the handle in two. Too bad.

This is a beautiful teak towel rail. It's multiple pieces, glued and milled to look like one solid piece, and they did a good job. If you plan on staining and a clear top coat, be aware that it has a waxy coating that will need to be removed. A very big problem is that the drilled holes are too small for the screw head to fit properly. The holes are not deep enough for a screw and therefore too short for this pole.
