Bought to keep the salt from getting wet during the Florida summer months. I've added rice grains and they work well. Nice little flip cap and decent quality for a plastic product.

They don't seal at all. This is how salt and pepper go stale faster. Also, I bought them for our RV and when the salt tips over they don't drain well. Even with the hood closed. Straight into the thrift store pile.

I stopped using talc millennia ago and sometimes use cornstarch. I used an old pill bottle with holes in the lid as a shaker, but it was dirty and didn't work very well. So I figured a salt or pepper shaker (just plastic because it's in the bathroom) would be perfect, and it is. The plastic jar is nice, strong, and really transparent, and the holes in the top, although a bit small for cornstarch, work well. This should have been thought about years ago. Really really good. I wanted a small set to take on a picnic. If I tried it at home first I would probably come back. They sit up well, but when I wrapped them up, the peppers spilled onto our plates, napkins and cutlery. If you turn it upside down or sideways with the lid tightly closed, the slightest movement will still cause the pepper to come out. We don't even have to open the lid to add pepper to our food. If you ship, I recommend checking them carefully first. The salt doesn't flow.
