I'm a potato peeler but other than that two important factors I need for a 5 star rating: Does it work? Smells good? Let's get straight to the point, yes and yes! I had bleach damaged hair, the products I was using didn't "work" for my hair's current condition, so I was basically neglecting my hair. My hair felt like butter after it had become brittle and dry from neglect. 3c low porosity hair.

I've only tried this product once and didn't get the amazing results I expected. The smell is also not very good. I have very damaged ends (dry and brittle) due to bad balayage. Okay, the main thing is that this hair mask contains no silicone. With that in mind, my hair prefers the Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Mask, also by Shea Moisture. The scent of the Manuka line is also amazing.

My daughter is mixed race (black and white) and I have used Devacurl products on her hair - they dried her out. It literally looked like straw. No matter how much oil I used it was still dry. My friend recommended this hair mask to me and it's a game changer. My hair is so soft and hydrated now. I use it on her once a week and I love it!

This is not my holy grail hair mask but still very good. It left my hair more hydrated and smoother than if I neglected the weekly mask for a while. The softness will be different than what you are used to when you normally use products with silicones (dimethicone, cyclopentasiloxane, etc.). Unlike products that stay on the surface, you'll feel truly moisturized strands. This isn't a slam on silicone products, they *should* just sit on the surface. I have coarse, wavy hair and extremely sensitive skin and this is one of the few products that works AMAZING and doesn't irritate my skin. I've been using this in place of conditioner for about a year and only buy it from Revain because it often sells out in most of my local stores (which gives me an idea of how popular this product really is). 4c relaxed. I have used several Shea Moisture (SM) masks like Manuka Honey, Rehydrating Coconut Oil, Jamaican Black Castor Oil (JBCO) and now this one. I don't like the JBCO line at all because of the abundance of hydrolyzed proteins. The rehydration and manuka honey masks are good because they don't have as much protein as the JBCO line. Doesn't have the BEST glide on my low porosity 3c/4a natural hair but moisturizes better than many other products I've tried. When I wash it out my hair doesn't feel SUPER hydrated but that's ok. Still looking for my Holy Grail product, but that's enough for now.
