Surprisingly BIG performance.

Based on first impressions I would definitely recommend this to anyone who needs an extra M.2 slot. I wanted to use 3 M.2 drives for my build, a 1TB 970 EVO Plus drive for OS and programs, 1TB for Intel 660p storage and my old 512GB 970 Pro for frequently used files and media. However, my motherboard only has 2 M.2 storage slots, so I bought it to continue using my 970 Pro SSD. The SIIG reader didn't need to install any drivers (Samsung NVMe 3.3 drivers already installed), just popped my oldโ€ฆ

Win10 = Yes. Win7 = most likely

You cannot boot Win7 from it, but you can run it as an additional disk in Win7 after downloading the correct drivers. (The new Win7 boot may be bootable, but unlike the hardware image restore, it failed to boot even with drivers loaded.) Win10 can boot from it from what I've read. But I haven't tried it yet as it must be a clean install. Overall I like the card, I like the fast hard drive that comes with it.

Pros
  • Good for many
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

My PC BIOS didn't recognize this card for boot select

I love the Samsung 970 Pro 512GB NVMe M.2 (M Key). I didn't like the fact that after updating to the latest BIOS firmware he still didn't see that card/memory. I was able to split the original boot drive and then clone it to a new NVMe drive. My motherboard is ASUS P8Z77-V Deluxe. The boot drive is a 128GB Samsung SSD. The PCIe adapter is a SIIG full speed M.2 M Key NVMe SSD to PCIe adapter, PCI Express X16 card with heatsink. If anyone knows how to fix this issue I'd love to hear it so I canโ€ฆ

Works great but wasn't easy to install

Comes with pre-perforated thermal pads to help with heat. The included brass insert protects the m.2 drive, which is a nice touch. 2 of the 4 threaded holes were too far from the top making it difficult to actually drive a screw in half of the device. I would like a smaller screw hole or a slightly longer screw to compensate (maybe 2-3 turns longer). Currently only about 1-2 threads are actually involved.

Pros
  • Regular price
Cons
  • No mold required

Not as shown

Different image shows two different images of the product. One x16, the second x4. The ad says it's a x16 device, but it's a x4 device that fits into a x16 slot. It's easy to install and works great as a x4 device, but I could spend less money to get a device that works in a x4 slot. It runs at the device's max speed x4 and matches my drive's speed rating.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
