Silica Gel Packs for Safes

Required silica gel packs for two safes. One for my daughters and one for me. After about two years, the original silica gel bags that came with the new safes stopped working. Surprisingly, they get very musty, with a musty smell. Safes cleared, new bags put in, and all is well again. These are a good size too.

Pros
  • Provides excellent adsorption - each pack can hold up to 40% of its own weight in moisture
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

Silica Gel for Safes - Laboratory Supplies and Consumables

Two bags were stored in a home safe for 2 weeks. The paper in my safe was very damp before I put two bags in the safe. I checked the security papers after 4 or 5 days and noticed a dramatic difference in the moisture content of the stored papers. They were normally dry. I can't say how long the bags last, but I can say they kept my papers from getting moldy.

Pros
  • Our desiccant bags meet US Military Standard MIL-D-3464E Type I and II desiccants
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

confusing description

I don't know why thickness and packaging matter so I gave them an average rating. The costs are difficult to estimate. I wish the description said how many packs of the product are in and how many ounces are in *each* pack! All brands say there are "x" number of packs and "x" number of ounces, but it's not clear if this means each pack is that many ounces or all packs are that many ounces combined .

Pros
  • non-toxic
Cons
  • large and bulky
