It's not that bad.: Acoustic treatments

First of all, the foam is fairly easy to tear. Any pressure applied will leave permanent damage/dents. But the foam is quite thick, I put it in my computer's removable back cover and it doesn't really matter much, but I think it helps with vibration, at least from the fans and whatnot. Adhesion is good, no complaints. Just get tired of the tears and pressure breaks. If you use it for your computer, don't expect too much, it makes minimal difference.

Pros
  • 530mm x 380mm x 4mm (thick)
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

NAS enclosure Pure Silence

Loud NAS enclosure (4 hard drives click constantly). I cut strips out of them and placed them in places in the case that didn't block airflow and I didn't even have to use that much. It's very quiet now and I'm very happy. I had previous experience with sound deadening foam so this worked exactly how I wanted it to. Pro Tip: Use a new/sharp blade when cutting any type of foam for clean edges or it will roll and smear. Use this tip for sound absorbing foam, Styrofoam, Styrofoam, etc.

Pros
  • Easy to cut and fit into any computer case
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

This helped with PC case vibrations

I used this on a NZXT Phantom 410 PC case. I have previously swapped out the fans for quieter ones but it didn't help with the vibrations that bothered me . What worked was to cut them into half inch strips and glue them where the front and top plastic panels snap together. Voila - no vibration. The plastic parts on the housing were to blame. Since this product contains two large sheets, I also made a side piece (one without the glass) and I have almost a whole sheet left. The fact is that ifโ€ฆ

Used to dampen the keyboard, works great!

Well, another commenter pointed out that these sheets are really big and I believe them. However, as they are designed to absorb sound inside a PC case, I should have expected this. Anyway, this is what I used to mute the audio between the keyboard board and the case. Works well and doesn't hear the dull ping you usually hear from a metal case. To be honest you could technically use it as a sound deadening material in a sound booth or room as these panels are large and somewhat dense. I haveโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Excellent high temperature adhesion
Cons
  • Price that beats the piggy bank
