Great idea that could use some improvement. I bought these to fit a fender on my bike with front suspension, but the gap isn't wide enough to fit the breakaway protective tabs that many front fender stays have, including SKS fenders. I had to make a decision: break off the safety tabs (and void the warranty on the fender) or return these brackets. I decided to take the last option.
