This external drive did a very thorough scan of all three of my drives without prompting and found a large number of duplicates between drives. It took a long time but there were a lot of files to search through.

Overall I really liked this image capture device. Used it to create a local (not iCloud) photo backup on my iMac (prior to the latest iOS software update). Plugged in the device and did an image search and it immediately started searching for images. I ended up having to stay close to my iMac to keep the Imac from shutting down (going to sleep) and terminating the search (giving a "Search Canceled" error message). I bought 1TB Picture Keeper Pro. At first I couldn't get any of my computers to recognize the Pro after plugging it into the USB port. After a technical email this was quickly fixed and as soon as I plugged it into the USB it worked. I had almost 12,000 photos on one computer and over 6,000 on another, older computer. Plug it into your computer, click on the application and the device will search your hard drive for photos. I used it on my primary iMac and MacBook Pro and it extracted over 20,000 images with 60% space remaining. Really plug and play (I use a MacBook Pro). A few clicks to let it know you want to back it up and it's ready to go. Took longer than expected, large library but did what it was supposed to. I really like the feature that once this resource reaches the limit, it will stop, allow connection to another, and then continue the backup without losing anything. Very comfortable and convenient.

I liked how quick and easy it was to transfer the photos with no extra or special steps. The label on this external drive means I always know where our photos are stored.

I was very happy with this product. I've plugged it into every computer I own and work on and nothing recognized it. I have tried customer service and they are unavailable on weekends or public holidays. So I went back and just bought an external hard drive, which is a lot cheaper and looks pretty much the same, to store my photos. :(
