Sony DVM63 DVC Mini Tape Review

This is DV ONLY, will not be HD in my HVR-HD1000N even though the cassette says HDV. As soon as I try to record in HDV 1080i, it immediately tells me that it switched to DV mode, which I think is 480. Such a disappointment.

I alternate between tape and memory card usage. If I'm doing a series of long interviews, I prefer tape as it's more economical and doesn't have to be loaded at the end of each day of shooting. On its own, this tape is probably no better than a standard Sony DV tape, but the body and rails are more durable (or so I tell myself). You pay money, you make your choice.

Maybe it's just a minor thing for most people. But as Andrea stated in another post, the product received is not the same as that shown in the picture. The label says the ribbon inside should be the same as the picture. However, the product comes in a different packaging and the straps look completely different. I like all my tapes to be the same, so their tags are the difference. But now I have different cassettes. You should do the same as the descriptive label is similar so this presentation

I own a small video shop, mostly filming local shows (70+ a year) and releasing about 3000 DVDs a year. I have bought these tapes several times over the last few years and Sony make very good HD videocassettes. All of my 100+ tapes that I have purchased and used have no gaps or jams. HOWEVER, the last two shipments of my 5 pack came in the thinnest ribbon sleeves. Suitcases used to be quite thick and very strong, but now they're made of plastic so thin that if you open the suitcase too quickly, you'll break the side hinges. the last half year or so.
