Doesn't work.: DVD player

Doesn't work. There's too much wrong with that. Door doesn't stay open to put CDs in, doesn't budge which I really liked with my old Sony CD 300 CD player I had for 15 years which worked great but eventually broke. Very disappointed.

Pros
  • Absolute legend
Cons
  • Almost never

Does not play pre-recorded discs.

I've bought at least 4 Sony Mega changers over the years - the first one lasted about 5 or 6 years. The rest (used) serves 2-3 years. I keep buying them because I haven't found anything else that works with my old stereo speakers and makes my CDs easily accessible. I have about 200 CDs that I don't want to put on my computer etc. So that was the easiest fix and overall they work pretty well despite the occasional misplaced drive. However, unlike all other Sony Mega Changers I've had, this one…

Don't buy this - your DVDs will be ruined

I bought one of these discs years ago when they first came out. My DVDs have been there for years. Now some of these DVDs cannot be played due to heat warping around the bottom edge in the tray. These aren't scratches. It's a discoloration that looks like a rainbow. You see, in this device, DVDs are always erected by the edges and lie there in a closed and hot space. And if they sit there for a long time and you don't play with them to turn them, the bottom edges will eventually get damaged…

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Only available in black

But great DVD player.

I also can't figure out why this machine insists on loading a disc at startup. He also likes to toss the one you had in the basic slot (the "plus one" slot) into other available slots and I have to look for him. Also as far as the CD changer is concerned, it's a joke. It doesn't do what Sony's mega changer was designed to do. All it can do is "drive" another mega changer (i.e. play what's on the other changer) but not fade in, play with no lag, etc. It lacks ALL those features. It took about 2+

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Older model
