Review on πŸ“€ Sony DVP-CX860 300+1 DVD/CD Changer Player by Shane Picot

Revainrating 3 out of 5

But great DVD player.

I also can't figure out why this machine insists on loading a disc at startup. He also likes to toss the one you had in the basic slot (the "plus one" slot) into other available slots and I have to look for him. Also as far as the CD changer is concerned, it's a joke. It doesn't do what Sony's mega changer was designed to do. All it can do is "drive" another mega changer (i.e. play what's on the other changer) but not fade in, play with no lag, etc. It lacks ALL those features. It took about 2+ hours on the phone for the Sony tech to admit he hadn't. It can't be changed to CD2 or 3, another CD changer needs to be replaced, and only the CD1 is able to take full "mega control" in Sony's circuitry. Since it has to be CD1, which isn't possible, it's not possible to hook up another mega-changer to it and play back and forth between the changers without delay or crossfading. Also, the menu system for saving, listing, and searching titles is tiresomely slow. As for the DVD player, however, it works VERY well. I have a 9ft Diag (Sony) HD front projection screen that has minor artifacts that a small screen just can't. This player delivers excellent results and also offers enough space to store your DVDs. An added bonus is the ability to flip the disc and play the other side. My recommendation: buy it for a DVD changer, not a combo DVD/CD changer.

Works nicely and has enabled me to store/play all my old classic DVDs in one place.
