Sony® Blu Ray DiscTM Player BDP BX2 Review

I have two identical BDP-BX2 machines. One is used immediately and is a great machine. Plays every Blu Ray I have. No problem. On the other hand, I downloaded two "firmware" updates from the Sony website. After the first "upgrade" only some Blu-ray discs were played. Now it names all Blu-ray discs as "Invalid Disc" and only plays DVDs. Conclusion: Really good car if you don't update the firmware. If you have this player and it is currently working, DO NOT UPDATE THE FIRMWARE. I have had this player since 2012, there were no problems. A few days ago I realized that I had never updated the firmware and that I probably had to do it. After the update, the player stopped playing Blu-rays that used to play normally. I got this player for Christmas and now I've had time to watch a lot of videos on it. This is my first Blu-ray so I don't have anything to compare it to, just what I've read in other reviews. First, let me say that this is a no-frills, inexpensive player. If you want the bells and whistles you will have to pay more and look elsewhere.
