I decided to buy 5 of these bags and put them in a flexible Samsonite Tote-a-Ton so I wouldn't have to carry more than one suitcase on a long trip. I had the opportunity to take a variety of clothes for different climatic conditions. After a few months of use, I only had one pouch tear at the seam, and that was a pouch slightly above the recommended fill line.

In short, this product works, albeit not as well as its smaller counterparts. I used several space bags on an international trip. I used the pouches according to their design specifications (not overstuffed). Some of the zippers came off but I didn't care because I found them all in my luggage. The reviews on this product startled me because I bought four packs before reading the customer reviews. But imagine my surprise that the pockets worked well. I used them on a trip to Aruba. I was careful not to tear the bag by zipping it up. I was able to reuse all my bags when I got home with no problems. I bought these space bags to carry more weight in my carry-on and less in my checked baggage to avoid overweight fines. I'm still torn about this product. It does its job of compacting, but it doesn't seem to compact the right shape and still doesn't leave much room for extras once compacted. After first use I was willing to give this item a very enthusiastic 5 star rating because it was so easy to use and compresses almost any clothing item that I need a week-long trip abroad that fits in less than half my suitcase.
