Speedball underglaze color is the worst

I bought these speedball underglazes for the first time because Jessica Putnam always loves them and they're half the price of amaro velvet. To be honest they are not worth buying as always, you get what you pay for, I find the application mostly uneven and painting in general is an ordeal, it just feels like trying to paint with colored mud paint (where velvet is just that, velvety, they feel like paint and have a lot more pigment in them). So be careful if you're looking for a quality product

Pros
  • TRUST IN FAMOUS CERAMIC ARTISTS. Great for detail painting, sgraffito decoration, watercolor effects, free brush painting and misima decoration
Cons
  • Not sure

Does not live up to standard as expected (even at a lower price)

tried red, no. It's brick-colored, to say the least. Not what I wanted. I searched for RED. I used black and white as expected, both fire colors. I combined (royal) blue with red and got an acceptable purple color. I didn't use yellow or orange as those aren't the colors I would need. If you use it in a school environment where kids only get dirty and price is important, go for it. Otherwise, you can see my description of the results to see if it's a good fit for your needs.

Pros
  • LEAD FREE - All colors are tableware safe when used and fired as directed (with overglaze), lead free and AP stamped
Cons
  • Can't remember but there is something then

Problem solved

I use underglaze almost exclusively because I need the control and detail they offer. Most items are covered with food safe transparent glaze. The consistency of these underglazes is slightly thicker than 2 ounce bottles, which is great as they can be diluted with water meaning they go even further. They are opaque on 3+ coats. like most underglazes. Add a little more water and pour some glue into a needle-tipped bottle (used for quilling) or small brushes to add fine details. Or pour more than

Pros
  • GET CONSISTENT RESULTS - Opaque colors don't shift or bleed; apply 2-3 generous coats for best results
Cons
  • Unfashionable
