Description of Hemp Fiber: Premium Combed Top Roving for Spinning, Blending, Felting & Fiber Arts. 100% Natural Vegan Option

2 ounces (50g) of undyed hemp sliver, ready for dyeing, spinning, blending, & felting projects. Hemp has truly withstood the test of time—it was the earliest plant cultivated for fiber! Made from cannabis plants, it is highly durable and slightly finer than flax. Average staple length: 5 inches (120mm). SPINNING: Hemp is much prized for adding durability and texture to yarns. The fiber will get softer with each wash, but will not become stretchy. Perfect for creating macrame yarn, twine, rustic jewelry, and household linens that will last for many years to come. Our vegan plant-based fibers are sustainable, biodegradable, and 100% cruelty free. Please click on the blue LIVING DREAMS YARN link near the top of the page to see more unique yarn and fiber products.

Suitable for simple things

Good linen but short. It would make good yarn but I was trying to make a bowstring out of linen and that linen was too flimsy and the pieces were quite short.

Pros
  • Felting needles
Cons
  • Cord shorter than others

Not ideal for needle felting

This is indeed hemp fiber but I was hoping to use it as an alternative to wool. I found it too difficult to use but might be useful for other purposes.

Pros
  • Needlework
Cons
  • Requires socket

Short staple length, but still a nice spin.

I didn't know the staple length before I bought it. I was expecting 8 inches but it ended up being 3 inches which is pretty small for linen. Otherwise it is a very high quality product and at a reasonable price.

Pros
  • Wool roving
Cons
  • Not as thick as the others
