Ambiguous description causes error (1Gbps incompatible)

This device is not compatible with gigabit devices. With most ISPs (e.g. Verizon FIOS), their router will not bind a 10/100 Mbps connection; it concerns its connection to the ONT. Instead, it doesn't connect at all. There really isn't a solution for this as gigabit networks require all 8 wires to be used. The description should be supplemented with "up to a maximum of 100 megabits per second" (currently it says 100 megabytes, which is ambiguous). An incorrect specification leads to the…

Doesn't fit my purpose

Wires in our home go to a Verizon FiOS modem/router downstairs with a Category 5 wire going from the ethernet port in that router to the gateway router upstairs. We have a desktop connected directly to the gateway router. This extender arrangement provides whole-home Wi-Fi coverage. However, the download speed on the FiOS router's Ethernet port is just under one gigabit. When transmitted through a gateway router, the desktop speed is around 400 Mbit/s. I was hoping I could fix that with this…

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Piggy bank price

This two piece set does exactly what it's supposed to do. This makes it possible to make "two" out of an existing single CAT5/6 Ethernet cable line. This allows you to use a second port on your router or switch to a different location on the end of an ethernet cable so you can get away without running a second ethernet cable. I used to manually re-solder the ends of the ethernet cable to split it in two, but this adapter makes the process so much easier, no more reconnecting. If you think that…

Pros
  • Heavy Duty
Cons
  • Damaged

Works as advertised, both splitters must be used.

Works great. Saved me from installing an ethernet switch for just two devices. I have a Cat6 cable between the router and the bedroom. I needed a way to connect two ethernet devices at the same time using the same ethernet cable. Found here. I connected a splitter from the bedroom side to both ethernet devices and then from the other side connected the other splitter to two ports on my router. I can't tell if the speed reduction is due to device performance, but the display on my switch shows…

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options

Didn't work for me

I was hoping to isolate 2 devices at the end of a very long Category 5 underground cable. Although this seemed to do the isolation I only got 10MB half duplex connections and not the 100MB they claim. One of the devices was a cable modem with 100MB service, so 10MB just wouldn't do. Also, the modem was never connected. The other device was a POE security camera that actually worked well. Not worth coming back at this price. live and learn I do not recommend this product for devices that require

It really works if you connect it correctly

So I bought this for my wife to have her Firestick and Tivo Mini hardwired but she only had an ethernet cable. At first I thought I'd need a small multiport switch to get it working, but I saw it and for the price I thought it was worth it. I received it yesterday and within 20 minutes of opening the box, both devices were working as expected. A few things to keep in mind. You will probably need 2 cables, this only comes with 2. You need 2 outlets from the nearest switch or router to one of the

Works great as advertised

I needed something to allow two computers on the end of a CAT5 cable to connect to the internet through a router, with each computer having its own IP address. A long time ago I built my own splitter by stripping a CAT5 cable, stripping 4 pairs of wires and plugging two pairs into each of two different CAT5 connectors. Like I said, stupid. But that was before Revain and the proliferation of handy gadgets and tools that we have today. Now that I have to do the same thing all over again, I was…

Pros
  • This adapter is not the same as a network router or network switch without an IP address assignment.
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
