The app is nice but the functionality is absurd. Requests access to the contact list and phone ID. Why exactly? My firewall is showing strange connections to some Chinese domains (tracking/application monitoring), including Baidu. The app keeps popping up before other apps, which is very annoying. This device worked fine for me. I bought it to store movies on our network to play on our Fire TV. I connected this device to our network and once set up it was easy to see from our file transfer computer. At first I couldn't get the VLC app to see the drive on the Fire TV, but I managed to get it working using Kodi. Great for inflight entertainment and/or many other functions. I bought this for my 2 year old to have fun on a 6 hour flight to Hawaii. My son, wife and I were able to watch different movies on different devices from 35,000 feet! Unpacking went well. I bought it for use in a portable environment where I can connect a laptop and two or more cell phones. I would use my cell phone as the internet gateway and the SSK drive would be the access point for the laptop and other cell phones.
