Nothing comes through except the radio.

Nothing works on the water. Radial station only. I need other boaters and emergency information. I contacted the company because Amazon won't let me ship back.

Best quality in automotive and automotive electronics

Even though it's made in China, it's really well built and looks high quality. I did a lot of research before buying and it has all the features I was looking for at a good price. If you're looking for a portable VHF, you can't go wrong with this one.

Screen dims in hot weather

I took this on a boat on a hot day and the screen dims to the point it's unreadable. Reception and sound quality are not as good as expected from this brand. I didn't pass it on, so I can't comment on it. It has good features and the learning curve for programming and using it is not too bad.

Screen dims when hot

I love this radio and use it every day at work. BUT for something that purports to be a military design I was quite surprised to notice that the LCD would fade if the radio was left in direct sunlight. This appears to be related to heat rather than direct UV exposure, whether the display is in direct sunlight or not.

Find another brand

Very disappointed. This is supposed to be new. Within a few months of purchase and with absolutely no submersion or damage, the screen and battery died. Cannot return to seller, had to send in the standard horizon - they confirmed water entry and will replace - with no new product! This is my second standard VHF horizon with this release in the last 8 months. Find another brand and seller.

Things I liked. The LiPo battery is running low. Its easy to program my MMSI number with many youtube videos. By the way, Boat YS members can get an MMSI number for free. Man overboard feature. Ability to encode DSC calls on Chanel 70. Tracks other DSC positions. GPS navigation. Stand. Stainless steel loading pins. Charges in 3 hours. Reliable belt clip.
