Mylar polyester film of the retractable tape measure extends life of entire blade. Chrome high-impact ABS case is job site tough. Secure blade lock won't creep during measurements. Corrosion-resistant Tru-Zero end hook for accurate measurements. 16-inch and 19.2-inch stud center markings simplify framing jobs. Tape rule provides positive blade lock with no creeping. Special True-Zero hook allows use of nail as pivot to draw circles and arches. Chrome high-impact ABS case is job site tough. Mylar polymer-coated blade and heat-treated spring for long life and durability. Stanley's limited lifetime warranty; measures 3/4-inch-by-16-feet.

Hmm, bought these for work. I was looking for a metal tape measure. It looks metallic. It is not. Cheap plastic but the tape itself works well. I got them for their price and the more expensive FATMAXs don't last long. They collect crap in the case and prevent it from sliding in and out. >< I can buy several of these at the same price and keep the same quantity.

Ideal for my workshop

I have several FATMax tapes that are great for outdoor use and construction projects but are too bulky to carry around in an apron while working. on projects in my shop. A recent article in a woodworking magazine hailed the merits of smaller bands and praised the accuracy. Purchase decision made and not overjoyed. Nothing in my workshop is longer than 16 feet so I never get stuck in short gaps. It's much more "apron friendly" so I'm more likely to carry it around and have it on hand when I need

Better than steel case models

Better than steel case models IMHO. I've had the plastic bodied model for over 20 years and have found it to be quite durable. It has been thrown off the roof, kicked, used as a hammer, washed in the washing machine and served as a doorstop. It was still working fine until it disappeared. So I ordered a new one. But I also have a steel-cased model (33-416) that I bought in 1972. It works great too and yes, it's built like a tank and virtually indestructible. In the cases, the same mechanism and
