Better than steel case models IMHO. I've had the plastic bodied model for over 20 years and have found it to be quite durable. It has been thrown off the roof, kicked, used as a hammer, washed in the washing machine and served as a doorstop. It was still working fine until it disappeared. So I ordered a new one. But I also have a steel-cased model (33-416) that I bought in 1972. It works great too and yes, it's built like a tank and virtually indestructible. In the cases, the same mechanism and strap. However, the steel case model weighs 12 ounces, this plastic case weighs only 6.5 ounces. Wear the steel on your belt all day and you'll feel its weight. That's why I switched to plastic and I think it's the best choice for people who carry it around.
