Excellent for opening tight gases on iridium connectors

Purchased opening part only. I pin the plugs pretty tight at .024" and it's quite difficult to get in with most openers without damaging the iridium tip if you go too far. It does what it's supposed to do and that's why I'm giving it 5 stars.

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Available in black only

Proto quality, GONE on this one.

Proto tools are generally well made. This tool is cheaply made. The calibration wires themselves are fine, but the plastic ends they go in are cheap plastic. The electrode bending part on the connector is made of cheap metal and will bend at first use. I've used this tool once and can use it a second or third time before it breaks. I do not recommend buying.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Frequency

The ONLY good thing I can say about this product.

How can a manufacturing company go wrong with such a simple thing. DOES NOT include the listed .020 inch. Size information barely legible. The cutout on the side is too shallow and doesn't push out some of the sensors far enough to pull them out. Then you must go fishing and find that the edges are poorly finished. God. The ONLY good thing I can say about this product is that the wire gauges actually measure pretty much what they should.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Working speed

I bought this to check clearance on Motorcraft connectors for my 2016 F150 3.5L Ecoboost. I checked all 6 plugs and they were all biased to exactly 0.030 which is what I wanted to do. However, I measured the .030 wire with my digital calipers and it was .030 accurate, great! This model does not include the 0.020 wire as stated in the description. Although there is a 0.022 wire.

Pros
  • GOLS Certificate
Cons
  • Weight

Good for occasional use

A bit pricey and maybe not the best materials. Sensor wires are filled with plastic. They seem accurate, but I wonder if they'll ever get out of their plastic base. The metal frame is fine and the clamp screws at each end come in very handy when using the tool. The ground electrode bender is a loose fit on the electrode and requires careful positioning to work. I had to cut corks to 0.028mm and this is the only tool I could find with this size. If you are lucky or choose spark plugs made…

  • Best in niche

Terrible quality. Not Stanley, most likely a fake.

Despite the proto stamp, this is not a Stanley tool. There is no Stanley mark anywhere on the tool and this tool is cheap, poor quality and well below Stanley Proto quality standards. The design of this tool is such that you can't even use a finger lock to push out the sensor wires as the cheap plastic holders don't go into the clearly intended "push" range. In addition, at least three sensor wires were clearly deformed when they were received, so that they stuck to the housing even when using…

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Slightly torn
