Arrived quickly, installation was so easy. It hurts to say, but it was a mistake. Luckily I just drove around the block to check it out. But it didn't open and allowed coolant to flow through the engine, causing it to overheat.
I bought this thermostat to supplement the head overhaul effort on my truck. Well, unfortunately, the part worked only sporadically. I removed the one I bought here and replaced it with one I bought locally. Now the truck temperature is working properly. I won't be returning, it was only $6. Too bad.
Fits 98 Z71 with 5.7 vortec. The truck used to always run at 160 and I wanted it to run hotter so it (hopefully) uses better fuel. Put in a new stat and put in the fluids. Winded up and just after the gauge hit 200, it dropped again. For the money I'm happy.
I fitted this thermostat to my 1997 Buick Century Limited Edition and it seems to work fine. Quality materials have been used, so I definitely recommend it. You can also invest in a thermostat wrench for that particular car, as the placement of one of the bolts should give you a headache as Buick will likely want you to take the car to the dealer for repairs to lower the price.
This is an unmarked thermostat in a stant box. Is that an attitude? Will it last as long as stunt? How easy is it to get a bunch of stant boxes and throw in cheap thermostats? There is a star deduction for the fact that nothing is stamped on the thermostat. Comes with the gasket shown in the photo and looks exactly like the product. There is also no temperature marking on the thermostat. No rocker valve. The packaging says Made in Mexico. It replaces the old eighteen (18) year old thermostat…
