Another precision item from Starrett - consistently quality and reasonable price (couldn't make it myself for the price). Performs the same function as the same element in the older set of indicators, but better.

I bought this because I needed some new mounts and figured a few more poles wouldn't hurt either. Of course, it's nice to have quality clamps and bars when trying to take accurate measurements.

This rod is really good. I haven't found a unit I'd rather use. The rods are ideal in girth and length. The snug fit is the tightest fit and doesn't take much pressure to get it as snug as it should be. Smooth, shiny, straight, firm, and with just enough oil to keep it clean and smooth without making a mess. These rods slide easily and effortlessly into the socket, but when you turn the knob it holds tight and won't let go until you do. It also works great with other Starrett products. I use it
