Works perfectly! - Computers and accessories

This is exactly what I needed. I have a home lab and restore it fairly regularly every few months - I used to use a Toshiba 320GB external USB drive, which was more or less a laptop drive in an enclosure; as if it were an imitation. This runs at an average speed of 20 MB/s. I had the bright idea of upgrading to a USB 3.0 stick, but Windows didn't recognize it as a valid backup/restore device. Enter it. Very fast but cable problems

Ordered on 19th Nov delivered on 21st Nov Very fast - if it worked. The supplied cable is very short. To make matters worse, the cable does not fit into the hard drive housing. It wobbles and connects/disconnects with every movement. I was able to trace it back to the defective cable by borrowing it. The smaller side of the dual connector (unique to USB 3.0) did not stay in the socket. I spoke to StarTech Support on the 21st and 26th. Replacement cables arrived on 1.12. The 3ft cable was loose,

Maximum speed! 418 MB/s write and 432 MB/s read

Most drive enclosures that list SATA III compatibility are actually SATA I or SATA II interfaces, which accept SATA III drives, but work with them at a much slower speed. Most drives that list USB 3 support (up to 5Gb/s) only support bulk data transfer, and there's benefit in throwing them away. I found this to be the ONLY case that offers true SATA III and USB 3 with UASP.
