Works as it should. for computer accessories and peripherals

These drive bays were used to fill the front of my old Antec 1200 case. They've been running on my server without a raid for a few months now and I haven't had any problems yet. I replaced the stock fans with some Noctua fans because I've read that the stock fans are noisy and don't allow for any speed adjustments other than a toggle switch on the back of the cage. In terms of features, I've connected drives to a couple of LSI cards with cables. Two LSI cards allow me to connect four fully…

Excellent backplane ideal for custom builds of multi-drive enclosures.

I needed a 4 drive backplane that didn't use port multiplication for my RAID 10 configuration on my server system and it worked great. It's designed to fit in a real PC case, but for what I was doing that wasn't possible. I needed it to be able to connect to 4 WD Red 3TB drives for hot-plug RAID 10, but I needed it to be disconnected from the actual server machine. I was able to build a custom case for this and connect the PSU to the bottom of the case to power the case. The case sits on top of

Inexpensive for its features, noisy fan, which thankfully is replaceable

I've been using this drive enclosure at home on a FreeBSD ZFS NAS with four 4TB Seagate Ironwolf drives for about 20 months. , 24/7. I had no issues with the reliability of the case or the hard drives. It's nice not to have to deal with the drive sled - just slide the drive into the basket and close the door. In operation, I don't find the status LEDs too bright, they are just right. As noted by some reviewers, the 80mm fan is louder than it should be. Luckily, it can be replaced with a…

Don't buy this for Hard Drive Accessories

Fried all four of my disks. At first I couldn't see any of the drives in Windlws or Ubuntu. So I called Startech, they had a technical support hotline on their website. The guy was helpful and told me to disconnect and then reconnect the drive case. When I plugged the case back in, it seemed to work when the fan finally started spinning. So I put my hard drives in and "popped," then smoke, then the smell of burning electronics. The problem then escalated to Startech and they needed information…
