Stay Place Serger Machine Mat Review

This is my third mat; I have one for every machine, serger, sewing machine and now embroidery machine. The machines stop and none of the machines vibrate much, especially the overlockers. Rugs also reduce noise and I recommend using them if you are a fast seamstress.

I was unable to use this under my sewing machine as the computer controlled machine and embroidery unit were at different heights and therefore inoperable. However, when hooping fabric and stabilizer, I found the thick, non-slip mat invaluable. It completely holds the outer hoop in place while you attach the inner hoop, resulting in a beautifully taut surface of your embroidery! So my machines might still be noisy on the wooden table, but clamping is much easier.

I am writing this review based solely on Cottage Mills customer service. Received the item today - booted up the sewing station so technically I haven't used it yet. The product appears to be very durable which is why I was initially impressed. The carpet has two sides - a slightly smoother side and what CS calls wood bark = patterned side. Glad I stumbled across the internet buying a sewing machine for my vintage dining table and am very happy with the rug underneath. The mat is beautiful, thick and durable, fully protecting the table and preventing the machine from moving even slightly. My desk is black so it's a bonus that the rug matches it perfectly. This mat is fantastic. I don't know why I didn't think about finding one of them sooner. I have been sewing/casting for 20 years as a beginner. Although I love to create new things and often take on complex sewing projects, there are two things that absolutely drive me crazy. 1. My runaway serger getting farther and farther away from me across my table, and 2. My runaway foot pedal getting farther and farther away from me under my table.
