Steck Manufacturing 71410 Axle Securing Kit

I was amazed at how quickly and easily this tool freed my 2005 axles from the transmission. I'm glad I bought it and it fit very well, the gear case was not damaged by prying the axles open.

Pros
  • Highly rated by testers for grip and durability
Cons
  • Almost OK

The right tool for the job.

I bought this set from Revain Warehouse Deals for half the price of new. The tools are new, never used, only the box has been opened. They eliminate the hassle of wedging a pry bar between the CV axle and the gearbox. I should have invested in them a long time ago but I'm glad I waited and got a lot.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Great tool for stubborn axles.

I've been looking for a set of these for a while, never thought I'd need them because I've always pulled axles before. Then I had a series that wasn't easy at all. If I had these tools, things would be a lot easier. Searched for them and Amazon gave me the best option and price.

Pros
  • Hands-free
Cons
  • Crumpled

Fantastic tool for removing axles

After trying unsuccessfully to remove some axles with some big pry bars I was concerned that I would crack or break the casting and really cost me some money. I found them online and they looked exactly how I wanted them and they were. They quickly pulled out the axle shafts without damaging other parts.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Frequency

Do not buy the STECK version twice the price of OEMTOOLS 27305 Axle Lock Kit

Do not buy the STECK version twice the price of OEMTOOLS 27305 Axle Lock Kit (Fork and Washer) sold by the same seller here on AMAZON. He's almost the same. See my photos below. The only notable difference is that the more expensive STECK tool has a smooth/brushed finish on one side of the tapered fork and a slight difference in surface color. They feel the same in the hand.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Problem

I've been trying to get the axle out for three hours.

Tried for three hours to get the axle out. Pulling out, wedging screwdrivers and brackets did not help. I even went crazy and wrapped the cable around the inside of the axle and then jacked it up and used the jack as a slide hammer. Vain. I bought them to repeat next weekend. Insert wedge tool between gearbox. and the axle and two blows of a hammer on its end knocked the axle out with little fuss.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Unsure

They work fine, but I found a better way.

I had a CV axle that was NOT disconnected so I bought it. My mechanic friend showed me a little trick. Although I'd previously tried hitting the shoulder of the CV joint with a hammer to try to loosen it (on my 2007 Lincoln MKX, right), my friend had me place the Pien Hammer ball exactly where I hit earlier , and then hit hard on the "ball" portion of a stationary hammer with a second ball-tipped hammer of equal or larger size. Damn if the CV axle hadn't fallen out of the splines! I was…

Pros
  • Multiple competitors
Cons
  • unreliable

Bought to remove the rear axle from the Ford.

Bought to remove the rear axle from a Ford Explorer. I replaced the rear wheel bearing. The axle was stuck in the hub and wouldn't pull out with the standard hub puller, forcing me to remove the hub, knuckle and axle together. After a few hours of unsuccessful attempts with various crowbars and hammers, I finally bought this tool. The axle was stuck and I was beginning to wonder if I could even get it out, even with the axle ejector. . Part of the problem I found after I finally got the axle…

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • weak
