This scanner does what it's supposed to and does it well. Live AC detection is a great feature. While the scanner detects the edges of the spikes, the best part is detecting and displaying the center of the spike. This is a real time saver!

I've used it several times. One to place a mounting point on the ceiling of my garage for a kayak lift and several others for various wall mounts. It works much better on vertical walls than ceilings. It takes a little time to understand this and get the depth right. Received multiple false statements. As little as I will use it and for $35 it will get the job done.

This is one of the most accurate wall detectors I have ever used and I have used many. As a DIYer, I try to do most of my housework but haven't always been confident with any of these tools, but I'll tell you right away that it recognizes wood and metal studs with no problem and gives me the confidence I need to drill. The audible sound also tells me where the center of the hairpin is. For the price you can't ask for more

This stud finder is the end of it all. It has all the features you could want and then some. For starters, the packaging was excellent. The photo does not show the plastic the product arrived in. Inside the box were the instructions, the spike finder itself, and even the battery you need! . All search functions work with great accuracy. The pads on the top, middle and bottom of the device make it easy to slide on the wall or ceiling!

I recently purchased the previous version and it was a great product. This one is even better, in terms of materials, it feels good. It works as it should. It has a percentage counter which I found very useful. With the previous model, my hand got confused with the readings, but this time I didn't have that problem. This is the third spike finder I've bought and the fifth overall I've used in my studio setup. I've waited to test the Finder through a few challenges before leaving this review and it's definitely a Guardian. The most important feature of the Tavool Rod Finder is its ability to simultaneously detect live AC wires. With no AC detection, you can simply locate the absolute center of the stud and screw the fastener directly into the AC cable running horizontally through the stud. Thus, the AC detection circuit is turned on in both the wood detection mode and the metal detection mode. Tavool makes other similar models with additional features such as plastic pipe detection.
